September 2015 -“Wedding Bells”, Birthday Greetings, and Fun Family Times

September 25, 2015 by George and Linda Heckman

David and Joice-Mr and MrsSeptember 2015 “Wedding Bells”, Birthday Greetings, and FUN Family Times

Dear Friends,
We had a wonderful and eventful time in early September as we celebrated! We celebrated 4 (or more) family birthdays, and an anniversary, and a Wedding! It was GREAT that we had the family all together (save Hector-he still wasn’t able to come because of his visa!)
We had many days of togetherness at the MTC campus in Missouri on the Lake of the Ozarks. Getting there was half the fun!!! Grandma and Grandpa Heckman were our traveling buddies again, and we picked up Amy and her boys in St. Louis on our way to our destination. We really enjoyed our family times, plus the bonus of seeing many friends at the MTC. But the visits are just too short this side of Heaven!
August flew by very quickly for us as we continued on in ministry and work at the NTM Home Offices in Sanford, Florida. We also had a family death, and Linda flew to Kansas to be with her Aunt, for her Uncle’s funeral. he had been in a motorcycle accident on July 3, and never recovered for the injuries sustained. Our family time together was very good. Thanks to you all who have prayed for Uncle Jerry and Aunt Kay.
We are excited to see news of many tribal groups hearing for the first time of the True and Living God and His love for them. Please continue in prayer with us for these people to understand clearly in their heart language, the truth that God loves them, and provided a way for them to become His children, through faith alone in the substitutionary death of Christ on the cross. Here is a late-breaking “news update”:
“ 9/18/15: from Asia Pacific–´ Two weeks left until the teaching of the death, burial and resurrection of Christ: “This tribe, the K*** are really wresting with their inability to be accepted by God because of their own efforts. For the last 30 years their religious leaders have been telling them that they can be accepted by God if they do good, stop smoking, take baths, go to church, and all that. They have bought into that lie for so long that it is really taking time for them to come to grips with their sinfulness and to get to the point where they don’t have anything else to stand on! And that is right were we want them! We need them to be at the end of their rope and desperate so they can grasp the awesomeness of what God did for them! One thing I ask you to pray for is everyone’s understanding that they cannot make themselves right with God by the things they do. There are some religious leaders that are not happy that we are teaching something different than what they have taught for so long. They have been telling the people that they need to get back to their religious ceremonies and all that. … not happy with what we are teaching. We keep reminding them that it is not our teaching, but it is God’s teaching! We have to make our choice as to whether we will believe God’s talk or man’s talk. ”
And from Senegal: “ Please pray as they dedicate the New Testaments and that the Budiks would receive them with open hearts and thirst for the Word of God. Pray for the unbelievers that may be present for the ceremony that they would come to know Christ too.”
As an update on Amy and Hector Flores, please stand fast in praying for them. Hector has been calling the doctor’s office daily since last Tuesday to see if they have sent the paperwork to the Consulate yet. TODAY, they said it will go to the Consulate. Once this has been sent to the Consulate, the interview date for his green card can be scheduled (again-maybe the 3rd time will work for us!) Pray they can get an appointment SOON! They have continued faithful in their ministries in Chihuahua with NTM during all of this waiting time. Please pray that he can schedule an interview SOON, and that his green card paperwork will be forthcoming, so they can travel to the US, and begin their time of partnership development here, and also be ready to begin his missionary training next August at the MTC. Thanks so much!
Brett and Debby are doing well. What a pleasure to see their family! The doctor says the babies are identical twin boys, and they are growing well. (the checkup next week should confirm that.) Debby gets tired easily, but she is hanging in there! Pray as they begin again with formal Spanish study, they need to find someone to watch (and maybe teach) the girls during their time in Language lessons. We are encouraged in the progress they have made and how they have persevered during their first 6 months on the field. Wow! It has been a “pressure cooker” for them. Please pray for good friends for Chloe and Lily, and that they would adjust quickly and learn to love Nicaragua. (Right now the changes have come at them full force, and change is hard.)
Beka and Cody are loving the missionary training with NTM at the MTC. Please pray for them as they often feel like they are “trying to get a drink from a fire hydrant,” with so much information coming at them! Pray for Cody to get good sleep as he hasn’t been able to for quite some time. (He wakes up often with back pain).
David and Joice are enjoying a honeymoon in Michigan at the lake, and plan to move to Oregon in November to begin their ministry there at Calvary Baptist Church, Baker City.
Tim and Charity are doing well in Waukesha. We are happy to see them growing and learning the things God is teaching them. It is such a joy to see our kids all walking with the Lord.
Thank you so much for standing with us in prayer, and for your care and support for our family! We sure appreciate you! Please let us know how we can pray for you, and know that we love to hear from you!
