Praise the Lord with us for the many new doors He is opening up for the Bible lessons and books around Papua New Guinea. Just this week, two more groups asked for someone to come and teach them. One group of pastors saw many of their people turn to cult type teaching and want help to give their people firm Biblical foundations. Also, my colleague in PNG (Jim Tanner) just got a request from the Christian Leaders Training College to come and present to the students how to use the lessons. This is a great opportunity to partner with them to help prepare the future pastors and leaders of PNG. Pray for Jim and his assistant Jonathan Zato as they teach them how to use the resources we have available for pastors. Praise God for his continued blessing on his Word as it goes out in PNG and around the world.
Another note of praise: Jim told us that the latest shipment of 39,000 of books (including our latest “Kingdom of God” book) is shipping out of Ireland next week to PNG. Pray for its safe arrival and for us as we try to write more Biblical helps that PNG Bible teachers so desperately need. Also continue to pray for the finances and resources to make them affordable and available around the country.
PRAYER:
– I have begun a special week of prayer in preparation for our trip in July/Aug and we would appreciate you all joining and praying for us. (I have a team of 5 going along with me this time: youth pastor, evangelist, missionary student, etc). Dates are July 24th- Aug. 25th. Pray for my prep time: I hope to spend this month preparing for all the teaching I will be doing in August. Also that I would be really in tune with what God is teaching me as I teach others, and that I will also be able to do some needed research while in the country too.
– Pray for safety and open doors: Papua New Guinea is having national elections starting next week and sometimes people get overly passionate about things. Hopefully it will be peaceful and calm by the time we arrive. Pray for God’s hand in this ministry through the books and teaching. And for our dear brothers and sisters in Christ in PNG. They need our prayers even more than our words.
– Pray for the Battle: Satan always opposes these trips and we could tell lots of stories…some you might remember from previous trips (losing my voice, trips to the ER, etc.). It’s always a battle. I haven’t been feeling well lately (throat) and I am trusting God to help me get back to full health. I am generally healthy…except when I travel to PNG and in PNG. This time, it’s happening BEFORE I leave. A “thorn in the flesh. A messenger from Satan” as Paul calls it…to keep me humble and praying continually. Please pray with me as we teach to expose this enemy who enslaves PNG people.
– Pray for Janet as she holds down the fort here at home.
Thanks for your prayers and involvement in this work!
