Dear Friends and Family;
It has been another long stretch between emails, and I apologize. Greg and I have both been going full steam ahead since early March when Greg began teaching a translation class for 2 hours each day at our local missions training school. The preparation and teaching of that class, plus keeping up with his translation schedule has kept him very busy. He really enjoys teaching the class though, and loves showing our missionary candidates the principles and techniques of translation. Even if they never end up translating themselves, the knowledge helps them to help the person on their team who does do the translation.
The kids and I just finished off the school year with a trip to a animal rescue center we discovered a little over an hour from here. It was a wonderful way to wrap up our science unit on animal classification. Now I am redirecting my energy to all the “Mommy” , “Housewife”, and “Missionary” things I have let slide (like this letter :-)) I have also jumped in to preparing for the next school year and our big move into Buru!
Gracie just celebrated her 8th birthday yesterday! She is such a joy to us, she has an extra dose of personality, and daredevil in her, and is such a loving, thoughtful girl, quick to think of others. We are so proud her.
We have many big things looming in our near future. First of all, the kids and I are hoping to travel to the village with Greg in June. He needs to go for translation checks and we think it will be a good opportunity for us to see where we will be living, and for me to get an idea of what needs to be done to the house we will be staying in, as well as what needs to be purchased, packed, etc. The last time I was there was 11 years ago, so it will be an exciting adventure! When we arrive home from that trip I hope to be able to jump right back into school so we can get a little bit ahead, knowing that we will probably lose at least a month while we are moving interior and setting up house, if not more! Also, In August we have a team from our home church in Sacramento coming! The guys will be traveling to the village with Greg and the ladies will be staying here with me. We will be doing Vacation Bible School with the missionary kids and also decorating the childcare building at the Missionary training center.
