Berglund Bulletin- June 20, 2011

June 20, 2011 by Greg and Pamela Berglund

Dear Praying friends;
I apologize for being unable to update, I only have Internet access through my cell phone and posting updates is tricky.
We arrived in Singapore Friday night and a wonderful Singaporean couple met us at the airport and drove straight to the hospital. Even though it was Sunday night a pediatric Hematologist was waiting and Caleb was admitted. Monday morning they ran some different tests including a CT scan. The Ct scan showed that Caleb does not have Portal Hypertension ( the first thing the Dr. Suspected.) He did test positive for the P falciparum strain of malaria which is the most dangerous kind. The Dr.s will still test some other things but it could be that the Malaria caused the spleen and liver enlargement and there is no underlying additional causes.  We will be in the hospital at least three days while the malaria is treated and may need to come back to Singapore for checkups in the future to make sure the malaria is gone and his spleen and liver are shrinking. They said part of the spleen could have had it’s blood supply cut off causing it to swell rapidly.

Greg and the kids are enroute to North Sulawesi and should arrive by the end of the week. They are doing well and we are able to communicate via text message.

Please continue to pray for Caleb’s complete healing. Thank you so much for your prayers and encouragement, we have been blessed beyond words and have felt every prayer.

Gratefully yours;
Pam for the family
