Romans 16:16 says that we should "greet one another with a holy kiss"! I am reminded of this verse every time I greet one of my French friends. It is appropriate to affectionately greet your friends and Christian brothers and sisters with what they call, "faire la bise". Literally it means to make the kiss. We do not actually kiss one another but touch cheek to cheek and kiss the air. First on one side and then the other. It is awkward for some foreigners to get used to it but I actually like it. It is a way of letting someone I know that I love and respect them, that I am happy to see them and also a way to wish them well when I say good-bye. It was comical especially at church in the first few months of being in France. Can you imagine about five minutes of kissing everyone when you arrive at church and about five minutes of kissing everyone as you leave?
Consider yourself kissed! I love and appreciate you all!
