When learning a new language one often makes many mistakes of course. Some are more comical than others. Here are a few I have made.
"Merci beaucoup" means thank you very much but once I said the last vowel sound too high and said literally, "thankyou beautiful fanny/bum/behind"!
When discussing with the director of our school that daffodils were my favorite flowers I meant to say, "J’adore les jonquilles" (I love daffodils) but what I said was "J’adore les jeune filles", which literally means, "I love the young women"! What a laugh we had! I was so embarrassed!
If I wanted to talk about the love of Jesus I would say, "l’amour de Jesus" but if I wanted to talk about the death of Jesus I would say "le mort de Jesus" (with a silent T). The only difference is a very small vowel sound.
Language study is so important for communicating clearly! Please pray for me, for my brain, for my ears, and for my mouth. Only God can help me speak properly so that I can communicate His Word to people who need to know His love.
