One of the first things we did on our survey of village works was to worship with our Balanta brothers and sisters. Missionaries have been there for many years and there is finally a small church. We enjoyed a worship service with them outside under mango trees. Each of us danced during praise and worship time. They were so kind and generous! They have nearly nothing but took great effort to make gifts for us and feed us a delicious pork lunch. What a blessing to worship together with our Balanta friends. The missionaries there are currently working on translating the Bible into their language and also translate Bible lessons. Pray that the Balanta believers will put more effort into continuing a literacy program. Pray for unity among believers. Pray for continued spiritual growth. Pray that God will provide all their needs, spiritually and physically. Pray that they will be a light for God in their village where there are many who do not believe in God.
