Christian spotted in the wild

July 30, 2009 by Ian and Julie Fallis

What do you think a Christian looks like?

I was on my way to pick up my son from soccer camp, which had ended early because a storm was rolling in. Stopped at a traffic light, I could see it ahead: roiling black clouds punctuated by occasional bursts of lightning.

But I could also see that the light had changed, and my lane was not moving. The car just a bit ahead of me was still stopped. The passenger from that car was running toward a bus stop bench. That\’s the first time I noticed a young couple there, with there two little girls, one in a stroller. The passenger handed them an umbrella, then dashed back to her car.

I was in a hurry to get somewhere. I was a little bothered that our lane wasn\’t moving. I hadn\’t noticed the young family, sitting on an exposed bench with a storm coming.

But this woman saw them and did something.

I don\’t know whether she was a Christian or not. But I think that\’s what a Christian is supposed to look like.
