Putting My Degree To Work!

February 14, 2012 by Jack and Lael Crabtree

Fridge!
This special DC fridge is more than 10x as efficient as any we use in the States! It only runs for 4 hours per day and is completely powered by solar panels!

Today, I get to start putting my journalism degree to work a little bit. I’ll be editing the 8th edition of Tech Tips for Remote Living, the Tech. Center’s comprehensive manual for how to live in the bush…and survive! I’ll also be working on editing some of their videos, so people from other missions can take the class from a distance.

Here at the Missionary Training Center, we all have 7.5 hours of work detail each week. Until recently, my job was unlocking the buildings early in the morning and helping out on the grounds crew, which meant lots of mowing, building retaining walls, cleaning gutters and other kinds of manual labor.

It’s so cool how God sometimes allows us to use our skills in targeted ways that we never expected!
