Throughout our Tribal Tech class at the Missionary Training Center, we were constantly told that time is an irreplaceable resource. In a tribal ministry, where you’re learning a new language and culture from scratch, developing friendships, dealing with culture shock, and the stresses of remote living, solar power can free up a lot of time.
We’ll be able to power our computers to process language, culture and translation data more quickly. We’ll have LED lights so we can work efficiently after dark. We’ll have a twin-tub washer, so we won’t have to do laundry by hand (a very time-consuming task). In short, solar allows us to have a ministry instead of focusing only on survival.
We owe a huge thank you to the guys (and gals) at the NTM Tech Center who have spent countless hours designing these solar systems, modifying components to be the most efficient, testing and researching new technology and providing in depth consultation and tech support to us when we’re out in the bush! These guys are awesome.
Our family leaves for Papua New Guinea at the end of July, so we’re designing our solar system now. This solar system is designed to allow our family to live remotely for 10 to 15 years. We are committing to a task; not a time-frame. Our next step is purchasing the solar system. If you would like to donate directly toward our solar system, click the link below. Thank you all so much!
