Four hours into an eight and one half hour hike and I set down exhausted. The thought of another four and one half hours on the trail clouds my mind with doubt and just for a moment I wonder if this mission stuff in Papua New Guinea is worth it. Can I do this I ask myself as pain wraps my body much like being on a torture rack in some castle of days gone by? The words from Paul’s lips encourage me; we can do all things through Christ who gives us strength, Lord I need that strength now.
The joy of serving the Lord in Papua New Guinea soon clears the doubt and once again my body prepares for what lays a head. As I stand up and walk off I realize being in the center of God’s will is the most exciting journey a man can walk even though the body cries, you have gone to far this time.
.
Is it worth it? You bet it is, and I am not only willing to get a bit tired out here. I am ready to die if that’s what it takes to get the gospel message to the people of Papua New Guinea. We need a few good men and women, could you help? For more information on missions look up “Go ye”, in the Bible and let the Holy Spirit show you God’s plan for the gospel message and how that plan can reshape your life as it has mine. Jack Housley
