Dear Friends and Family,
We are shocked and deeply saddened by the news of my sister Sarah’s passing. Words cannot express all of our emotions right now. Sarah was taken by her Savior to her heavenly home on May 25, 2024, after a very short battle with lung cancer. She has completed this earthly race, crossed her finish line into Heaven and was embraced by the arms of her Savior, Jesus Christ, while a host of loved ones, both here and there, celebrate her victory.
I will fly home on Sunday to be with my family and attend the funeral. Please pray for Jacob and the kids, as well as our citizen workers in the guesthouse as they help missionaries coming and going with meals and accommodations.
We get to watch and see how God is working in many ways, including in our daily lives as He directs our days. He makes things happen moment by moment to bring glory to Himself. God loves each of His children. God has a good, good plan, even when it doesn’t seem good to us. We look forward to seeing how He brings Glory to Himself through taking my sister to Heaven.
We are encouraged each day as we look around the guesthouse and are reminded of God’s amazing character. The guesthouse has been transformed with each room given a theme: Faith, Trust, Grace, Joy, Peace and Hope. And inside each room are verses and hymns that match the theme. We are thankful that Sarah is now dancing with Joy, full of Peace and we can have Faith and Hope and Trust in God because we know He has a perfect plan that is full of Grace and Love.
God orchestrates every life, in both the big and little things. He even orchestrates the placement of our guests in these rooms… this week we had a missionary comment that the song written over his bed, was the same song that was played at his brother’s funeral. This was an encouragement to him. Today another guest told us that his life theme has been Trust and he finds a new verse every year. We happened to place him in the Trust room. God is in the little things as He encourages His children. He is also in the big things. He is orchestrating the life of each of His children. He knows the number of days each of us will be here on earth to enjoy His creation and bring glory to Him and He knows when it is time for us to go to Heaven, so that our life story will bring more glory to Him by drawing more to know His saving grace.
