Scrubbing Pans and Rubbing Shoulders

September 18, 2015 by Jared and Diana Jantz

IMG_3645This semester the staff has the opportunity of serving our students by helping with the “clean up” after lunch.  That means washing and drying the dishes including scrubbing the pots and pans!  This opportunity is two-fold … helping where there is a need and getting to rub shoulders with more of our students.

In reality,IMG_3648 it is not hard work but it is fast paced due to the time schedule of an afternoon class … and it is also fun getting to know our students in a different area of life.

IMG_3647The opportunity is on a volunteer basis and for one week slots.  You can volunteer for as many weeks as you desire.  Jared made a fine pot-scrubber and I learned how to quickly dry plates, cups, and silverware with the “best of them”.

There were also some minimal water fights but the students are great in cleaning up their messes!  Will we do it again?  We just might!
