Ten years ago this very month we packed up our barrels, told our co-workers we would see them later, gave hugs, waved, and left Paraguay for our one year home assignment. Little did we know at that time that we would not be physically going back to be a part of that team.
We had tried several times to return and “tie up loose ends” but every time we planned a trip something would always stop us. Over the years our “earthly belongings”, which were stored in barrels, were moved three times.
But, God’s timing is always the best and HIS timing was NOW! The trip in early June came together so fast and so amazingly. We saw HIS hand in every detail. Jared was not able to go but God provided three traveling companions for me … three family members of missionaries serving in Paraguay with our mission and friends of ours! He also provided a renewed passport and seats across the aisle from our friends on all my flights.
God even blessed me by orchestrating a visit with our dear Paraguayan neighbors who reached out and loved us when we moved into their neighborhood twenty-six years ago. The reunion was so sweet and the use of three languages was fun … oh the laughter we shared!
I so appreciated the help of my Asuncion co-workers. They encouraged me daily with words of affirmation and pulled out items in the bottom of the barrels that I could not reach. I would not have finished this task without them! What a blessing they were and continue to be!
God overwhelmed my heart in this journey! He did it just for me! Thank you Lord!
