Greetings from the Land Just Above the Land Down Under!

May 14, 2018 by Jeremiah and April Markley

In less than three weeks, Jordan will don his senior cap and gown, walk down an aisle lined with teary families and friends, and receive his NCA high school diploma (assuming no surprises in his report card!)  We are all very excited about this coming month as we bring him back to the U.S. and settle him in to his new life. Please continue to pray for Jordan as he is awakening to the realities of life on his own.  He plans on dedicating his first two years to studying the Bible at Ethnos360 Bible Institute in Jackson, MI.  After that, he would love to head to flight school and is already counting his pennies and figuring out ways to finance such an expensive training.  He dreams about serving the Lord in missions aviation, and would love it if you would pray for him as he learns to trust and follow the Lord in every decision!  In the few short weeks while we are there with him, we will be looking to help him get his drivers license, a job and basically teach him how to live as an American!

These last few months have been quite busy with Jeremiah traveling a lot to other tribal areas to assist newer missionaries with their language and culture study. Being a CLA consultant is one of his favorite ministry hats to wear!  Rubbing shoulders with young, passionate go-getters, passing on his knowledge and experience with learning an unwritten language, spurring them on in their own ministries to other language groups has been so rewarding, he often feels like he’s come home more encouraged than they were! There is so much joy in seeing missionaries you’ve worked with by the grace of God present HIS TRUTH to those who have never heard!  The Lord is doing amazing things in PNG, and we are so grateful that He has chosen to use us here!

While we will be remaining on the missions center, we are currently packing up and moving to a smaller house to make room for a larger family.  Everything in this house will need to be packed up and stored until the other house is available.  Please pray for our family as we pack, clean the current house from roof to floor, inside and out, graduate our son and then travel the globe, this time in the span of just 8 short weeks!  Since school for Judah and Alayna resumes August 7th, Jeremiah will return with the two of them so they can start school and he can set up in the new house, and I will remain with Jordan until he starts school 2 weeks later.

Thank you so much for your prayers and support for our family in this crazy time of life!  Please pray also for Judah and Alayna as they embrace the whirlwind and the things the Lord has for them this summer as well!  Praising the Lord for providing a HOUSE for us to stay in while we’re in Michigan.  (Also, and I never thought I’d say this, but we are praising the Lord that there is a CAT in said house, which will be balm to Alayna’s hurting heart after having to give away her own beloved cat this week!  Thank you, Lord!)  He has also provided a CAR for Jordan, assuming he passes his driver’s test!  Details are coming together!  Thank you to each of you who have been praying for us and have had a part in the Lord’s provisions for our family!

Some quick prayer points:

  • Jordan- for wisdom as he learns to walk with the Lord in a new way, a job, finances, etc.
  • Dinangat Bible teachers- please continue to pray that they would keep their eyes on Jesus and abide in Him!
  • Dinangat Bible translation- Jeremiah’s main helper has disqualified himself from ministry.  Please pray for healing, restoration, and that the Lord would provide exactly the right helpers to see this project through!
  • Our family- For a sweet, growing time in the Lord together as we walk this new path

Grateful to be your hands and feet in PNG!
