We are back from the Philippines and thanking God for all He did! We found the Philippines full of new and interesting things! One of these is a common Filipino dessert called halo-halo (or “mix-mix”). It’s made of layers of boiled garbanzo beans, kidney beans, shredded coconut, sugar palm fruit, caramelized plantains, sweet potato, shaved ice, gelled seaweed of various colors, cheese, rice, tapioca, more shaved ice, topped with purple yam and ice cream with evaporated milk and a sprinkling of corn flakes on top. Quite the “mix-mix!”

But such a fitting picture of the Filipino culture and languages…a sweet, interesting and beautiful mix! We thank God that He threw us into the “mix-mix” and pray for continued wisdom and open doors to train church leaders and missionaries so that the people of the Philippines will be able to read and love the Word of God in their own languages.
