Did you know that September 8th is International Literacy Day? Reading is such a part of our daily life that we don’t often stop to think of the gift that it is. We read signs, calendars, messages on our phones and computers, bills (not a favorite thing to read!) and instructions all day. When you stop and think about it, there are few moments throughout the day while we are awake that we are NOT reading something.
So, on International Literacy Day, take a moment to thank God for the parents and teachers who taught you to read. Thank God for His Word that you can read anytime you want. Pray for those who don’t yet have God’s Word translated into their language or cannot read it. Literacy opens the door to the greatest Book of all time and its Author who desires a personal relationship with each of us! Something to celebrate, for sure!
