Some treasures are too big to keep to yourself – you’ve just got to share them with others! That’s what we’ve found with the literacy software. But for this big treasure to be shared with the many on our worldwide literacy team who don’t speak English, it has been translated into Spanish, Portuguese, French, etc. This includes all the tabs and prompts in the software, plus the step-by-step instructions on how to use it.
The software has undergone great improvements in the last year since the instructions were written, so a careful, line-by-line check of all the help files is needed. New features that have recently been added have instruction tabs that are completely blank!
Once these help files are finalized and sent back to the translation teams for their revision, then there will be follow-up work answering their questions. For example, in some languages you cannot simply write, “Tell the students to read the story.” The verb ‘read’ requires knowing if the students are to read all together or one-by-one; and whether they are to read out loud or silently!
Prayer requests for the software instructions project:
- pray for clear, good communication in the instructions to minimize future questions by the translating teams
- for careful attention to all the details as Joyce works on this
- for the translation teams as they will soon be updating the help files in the different languages
