We hope that this finds you and your family well. Joyce and I are healthy and working from home.
There sure have been lots of changes to life in a few short weeks, haven’t there? The virus has changed the way we greet each other, shop, work, clean, educate the kids, meet together as a church. And it looks like it’s going to continue for quite some time.
In those moments when our hearts are tempted to melt, Joyce and I have found great encouragement in remembering God’s character (His power, complete control of every detail, His love and goodness). Choosing to be thankful has also been an important thing in keeping our hearts focused on the Truth. We’ve found that God’s Word has a special freshness, like reading it with new eyes!
For example, read 2 Peter 5:7-10 thinking of this world’s current situation:
“Cast all your care upon Him, because He cares about you. Be sober! Be on the alert! Your adversary the Devil is prowling around like a roaring lion, looking for anyone he can devour. Resist him, stand firm in the faith, knowing that the same sufferings are being experienced by your brothers in the world. Now the God of all grace, who called you to His eternal glory in Christ Jesus, will personally restore, establish, strengthen and support you after you have suffered a little while. To Him be the dominion forever.”
We have heard from many brothers and sisters around the world with whom we’ve worked in the last few years. They are experiencing the same things in their countries that we face here. Let’s pray for those who are sick and live far from medical help. Pray that believers would stand firm in the faith and find comfort and peace in God’s Word. Pray that we all would have many opportunities to point people to God in words and actions.
ministry is moving forward
We would also appreciate your prayers for the projects that we are working on here. Lots of time is going into the literacy software called Image Finder that has thousands of illustrations for literacy materials. It is available in 5 major languages and each picture has tags that are searchable in all the languages. It’s quite a lot to keep organized!
Also, the revision of the Literacy Manual is moving forward. There are those days that great progress is made and other days that the words just don’t seem to flow. We have learned about digital meetings and are using that tool to keep ministry going. It’s wonderful to see technology being used to keep advancing even in these days when travel is not possible.
So dear friends, take heart. Our God is always working. Praying that in whatever situation you might find yourself today, you are making the most of these days for His glory. Please pray the same for us!
