Dia dos Pais

Father’s Day in Brazil is the second Sunday of August.  The Friday night before Father’s Day, Cali and Karina’s school had a presentation for all the Dads.

Waiting for the program to start.  It started late because Brazilians are smart, and take time to feed all the kids a snack in back before they send them out on stage.  That way they are happy, not hungry, while they are in front of everyone.  🙂  and they are also on a sugar buzz.

He didn’t know we had a cake up our sleeve, and so he left the house just when the girls were getting ready to pop out and sing Happy Father’s Day with a cake in their hands.  So we tracked him down wherever he was, presented the cake, and shared it with whoever happened to be there.  That way it ended up a party.

Family.

In chapel that night, the school showed a slideshow of all the dads, with video clips of their kids saying “thank you” and “happy father’s day” (in whatever language the kids are used to speaking to their dads.)  Then they called all the dads up front and prayed for them and their families.

Real men…who love their children and point them to God.
