We have been praying for a long time that the Lord would open a door for us to share the gospel in one of the outlying villages. It is essential that we are invited to teach and not force our way in a village. The Lord has answered that prayer and we are now sharing the Gospel in a small village one hour’s walk from here called Buala Maule. The leader of that village named Ere Ba (Red Tree) came to us not long ago and asked for a missionary to come live with them. We told them that we cannot provide a missionary but we can come and teach them God’s Word. Ere Ba came back last Monday and invited us again. This was important because it showed us that the first invitation was sincere. For the last two nights Jim and Gena have walked to Buala Maule in the late afternoon and taught Ere Ba and his family about the Lord reading from translated Scripture, using well prepared Bible lessons in Dom. One man in the group named Pol was excited to hear Scripture in his own language for the first time. Pol is familiar with the Buk Baibel (the Bible in Pidgin English) but to hear God’s Word in his own mother tongue really spoke to his heart. We are teaching this group at Buala Maule using the Chronological method, starting in Genesis to lay a foundation for presenting the Death, Burial and Resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ. It takes a little longer this way but worth the time and effort to really communicate the Gospel to people who have only ever heard false gospels before now. Please pray for Ere Ba, Pol and the rest of the extended family in the weeks to come as we share the plan of salvation with them.
On Tuesday nights Judy has a Bible Study with about 20 women. Many have not been through our Chronological teaching – Creation through the death, burial and resurrection of Christ. It is hard to tell how many of the women are actually saved. So some of them have asked that we do this so Tuesday (October 22) Judy will start.
