Translation Progress

April 14, 2014 by James and Judy Burdett

We are very excited to announce that the last consultant check of the Dom New Testament has been done. In February, the Book of Revelation and Philemon were checked by one of our consultants, together with Kapia, Gena and Bapka. The check went very well and we are pleased with the quality of the translation. This means that we are free to have the Dom New Testament (DNT) printed with the approval and fellowship of New Tribes Mission. To that end we are proof reading the DNT, writing introductions to each New Testament book and some footnotes as well. This coming May we are returning to the States for Home Assignment (fka furlough) during which time we will complete the process of preparing the DNT for printing. We will return to the field in May of 2015 with a printed Dom New Testament! Jim and Gena continue to pour over the Dom New Testament text, proof reading for typos and making small improvements here and there. They are nearly finished composing the introductions for each book and Jim is working on the few footnotes he feels are needed. For example there is no word in Dom for sponge (verse here) so we transliterated it as spans. We will put a picture of one and a footnote explaining what it is and what it is for. We would appreciate prayer for wisdom as to what pictures and how many to put into the Bible. We also need to make some decisions regarding cross referencing.
