Working From Halfway Around the World

October 28, 2014 by Joe Evans

One of the more interesting things about this home assignment is that I’m continuing to look after the Shipping Department while back in the USA. This is a really good thing, as it is better to be in on the inevitable changes now, then to be surprised by them later.

But, perhaps the biggest challenge is the different time zones, as in being on the total opposite sides of the clock. PNG office hours start as I’m going to bed, and I tend to get up at the end of PNG’s day. This means that I may have to wait a day or more for an answer to a particular question.

Happily, this has worked well enough, even with having to process 4 shipping containers and at least two crates. But, I’m still looking forward to returning to PNG in a few months.
