Wednesday we left for our trip to Haiti. It was quite an adventure at the airport with mistakes made on our boarding passes and baggage. We almost missed our connecting flight, but by God’s grace we made it here on time! The boys did fabulous sleeping through the long flight and running at command. Joel and I were running on little to no sleep, but we arrived all in one piece.
Leaving the airport and driving to Joel’s parents home, we got a tour of the devastation. Where houses lined the street, now there are tents. However, the people here are amazingly resilient, life continues to move on here and activities of life still happen.
.
Tips we learned that will be helpful in Africa:
-Learned to bathe the boys in a tub
-Don’t use sink water to brush your teeth
-Tyler can still take a nap even in the heat of the day
-Life around the World has a slower pace!
Highlights from our Trip
– Catching baby chicks and lizards
– Swimming in the warm ocean (with fish!)
– Time with Joel’s parents
– Delicious Hatian Food!

We are so grateful for the time we have had here. Ethan has already told us that he never wants to leave Haiti. Although most of what he is excited about is Grandma and Grandpa, it is good to see that he does well in an environment similar to what our future life will be like. We are so glad we came!
