This year I could not have asked for better experience in teaching. I was blessed by God just to have a job, but as the year went on I realized that I was blessed in many more ways. The students at Heritage high school made such an impact on my life. It was neat to have students who were respectful and willing to learn, but also willing to let me engage with them on a personal level. Hearing that we are going to Africa raised many questions and opened the door for me to share my faith.
I had so many great students who filled my day with joy. It is always hard to leave home and be away from your kids as you head off to work, but it made it easier to do this when I felt like I was making a difference in students’ lives. I will not miss the early mornings, the long nights, the grading, and the rough days, but I will miss the students! As I left my classroom on Thursday all I could do was just thank God for the year that I had. In a year of transition, God put me in just the right place.
Thanks for sharing this, Andi. It caused me to praise God too. What a blessing to have work be more than just a drudgery (sp?) and I’m proud of you for looking at these students more than just math students, but individuals whose lives you could impact. God is good and now we’re trusting Him for the next part. I love you too.
I’m so glad you had a good year. Gotta love high schoolers! How sweet. God was good to you in giving you a good group of kids. I understand what a blessing that is. Love you, Mrs. McMartin! ; )
