- You are a trial I face every year
- You bring flocks of mosquitoes and flies
- Our church service and pray meetings become a mosquitoe feasting time
- The cost of food doubles or triples because of you
Not only is food more expensive, but I have to wade through the mud of market
- We always battle sickness when you come around
- You turn our sandy desert roads into mud
- Taxis don’t like to drive us home when you flood our street
At times people refuse to drive us home when they hear where we live
- You and my oven work together to make the kitchen at times unbearable
- You make me sweat all day long and struggle to fall asleep at night
- Power cuts are increased by you
- You are the one time of year I enjoy my cold shower
- I am never sad to see you go
- You help me remember that this earth is thankfully not our home
- We trust God each year for the strength to endure through you
Aaahh! You can do it!
Welcome to Africa, Katie. (haha).
Whenever something bad would happen my mother used to say this: “If I had a big stick I’d spank it and say, “leave my baby alone”. I say that to the rainy yucky season and all the complications it brings into your life, “Rainy Season, if I had a big stick I’d spank you and say leave my friends alone!”
