What To Do With A Week Of Rest

February 6, 2014 by Joel and Andi

  • Clean Out my French Bag  – Look at the tattered notebook with my 7328 new words and wonder if it should be framed or burned.

    My tattered, torn, stained notebook
  • Organize – I cleaned the boys art stuff which hasn’t been gone through since Katie was here, almost a year ago!

After many visitors and much neglect it was quite the task
  • Down Time – I am not really sure what to do with this any more…. Oh yeah a long time ago I used to read books for fun.

hmmmm...what is this and what do I do with it 🙂
  • Planning – The summer is just around the corner, maybe we should get some quotes on tickets!
  • Visit Friends – Visit just to say hi and not to get in more French time

It has been very refreshing to have more time to connected with more people than my language help who I think now knows me better than anyone outside my family
  • Wolof  – No, for one week we won’t even think about you, but pretty soon we need to tackle you…
  • Play Lots of Games With The Boys – The boys have been such good sports with all the afternoon sessions that I have had, it has been great to have the afternoons fully free to play with them.

    Such a great week
  • Skype – I think it was over a month since I was able to connect with my parents…so good to talk to them even if we still got cut off at the end.
  • Spend Time Extra Time With God!!! – By far the best part of the week

    Time to be refilled

Looking Ahead…

As our week draws to an end, we are feeling more refreshed than we have since the summer.  The next two weekends are going to be filled up with weddings, but we are actually looking forward to them as we aren’t coming into them already tired.  There is a possibility that Joel will be traveling to England in a week to participate in a forum for those who do Missionary Training Centers around the world.  The person who was going to represent our field can’t get a visa and so if that doesn’t come through, Joel will be going in his place.  Just yesterday Joel was wondering what he would do as he doesn’t even own a coat here and Google tells us it is just a little cold in England.  He has his normal bags packed with a mosquito net, bug spray, malaria medicine and flip flops…he doesn’t know how to travel outside of Africa anymore!  Oh how these past 2 years have changed us!

    Dear Andi,

Be blessed by this week of rest and the time to spend with your boys. They grow up so quickly. This week is a gift from the Lord! There are a lot of people who are praying for you. The Lord had provided for you and your family in so many ways. Thank you for sharing in the ways He has provided for you–including you completing your training in French. So if Joel needs a coat to go to England, the Lord will provide one. We can pray for that.

We have snow. It was supposed to go away by the week end, but now we are supposed to get more and it’s not supposed to leave until after Monday.

    Blessings and Prayers,

    Jeannette Bessler

    Dear Daughter
Stay connected to this time be purposeful in how you use it and mark that you had this time to be refreshed. Enjoy this Sabbath from your work
    Eph 5 : 18..
Instead, be filled with the Spirit, speaking to one another with psalms, hymns, and songs from the Spirit. Sing and make music from your heart to the Lord, always giving thanks to God the Father for everything, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.

We so enjoy your blogs. You are so transparent and share the human part of serving The Lord and challenges. We love the pics of the boys!
    Praying for you
