Looking Ahead

January 1, 2015 by Joel and Andi

Today starts a new year.  Tomorrow we get on a plane.  There are so many changes, so much excitement and so much sadness all wrapped in one.  However, today is a day to look ahead.  So as we look ahead here our some ways you can be praying for us.

Our Flight

Tomorrow we begin our journey back home.  We found out yesterday that we each get one more bag.  This was a sweet gift from God.  We are able to take back with us more than we thought we would and have our bags filled with special treats.  Our flight will include a long day of travel, resulting in about 22 hours before we reach our destination.  Pray for smooth travels and all our luggage to arrive safely.

School

Monday the boys begin school – only 2 days after arriving they will be thrust back into French.  Ethan, especially, is nervous as there are many challenges he faces going to school in his second language.  There are many benefits he gains from learning another language, but it is not easy.  Pray for them Monday as they head back to school.

Our Car

God has been more than generous.  We have been blown away as he has provided what we believe we will need for a village worthy car 🙂  We are asking for wisdom as we now consider all the options and decide exactly what car we should get.  We are so excited to have a more reliable and rugged car, it will be an extreme blessing to our ministry.  God is good.

Ministry

We are taking a week off to get settled in, but after that we will jump  back into the throws of ministry.  We are excited  to be able to engage in this again.  We have a new missionary arriving in a few weeks and 2 conferences we are planning for this year.  So there is no shortage of things to do.  Pray for us as we step back into the ministry God has called us to.

Wolof

Our goal this year is to get us and the boys to a conversational level of Wolof.  It will take us a month before we are able to get back into language studies, but pray for us as we press on in our studies.  We plan to focus our summer on Wolof for the boys.  So pray for all of us in our language studies this year.

This past year was filled with so many amazing memories.  This next year we are looking forward to all that God has for us.  So from all of us here we wish you a Happy New Year!

Thanks for the update. It was our joy to see you and interact a bit while you were in Portland. Thanks for the gifts–we are using them.
You will be in our prayers as you transition back to life in Senegal this next week.
