Our Life at a Glance: Growing Up in Senegal

Our kids have the amazing opportunity of growing up in Senegal. It is true that there are challenges they face with the constant transitions and good byes. They are part of many worlds and cultures and yet not fully part of any. However we love celebrating with them some of the fun parts of life.

Life here is about learning new things…

To learn some basics that and try to keep up

They were superstars in their French schooling

But they get to dress up on random other days at school

They participated in wedding celebrations

Living here means sticking out! Occasionally there are times that has its advantages. These are pictures of a recent parade where everyone was happy to have the two foreigners come over for a picture.

But sometimes that gives you special opportunities

And up close to the independence day parade

This term our field put on multiple workshops. These events are so important because it is a time for our kids to actually gather together and for a short time be in a place where they fully belong.

As we prepare to go our kids have mixed emotions. They are excited to see family and friends, but also sad to leave family and friends. It is the reality of life for them.

But I know there is a lot that they are looking forward to

As we hop over the other part of their world.

So pray for our boys as they transition and explore the other world that is part of them.
