Up North

August 6, 2018 by Joel and Andi

The second trip took Joel traveled  to the North of the country.  The people group they were looking into was a large people group who has been pretty resistant to change. It is a different type of work for us as an organization since they are less isolated and more spread out, but at the same there is a great need among them.  It made the research a little more challenging as they are spread out and there is so much you could look into.  However the goal of this was to just get a small picture and to meet with contacts that are already working there to hear more about their work and the need.  However God was faithful in directing this trip and helping them to get a good picture of what  the needs are and a better idea of the context in which these people live.

Here are a few pictures for you…

The further north you get the more desert you see
Desert and herds
One of the major religious towns is up that way as well
People come here on pilgrimage once a year
They particpated in Life – women all together
And men together
The visited many places
And saw aspects of life (this is an “automatic” faucet for washing hands)
They made lots of contacts
And got a better picture of the region
It was a great trip
Praise God for all they accomplished
And pray for wisdom in how to best reach this people with God’s word

I love the colors and the smiles. I was touched by the starved look of the cattle. How desperate they look. I pray the people are faring better than the animals. When I saw your photo of the ‘automatic’ faucet I was reminded of how spoiled and privileged we are. I also enjoyed the photo of the horse drawn carriage. How little we appreciate our blessings.
I pray for you and all your family and coworkers as you travel to places and peoples we can only vaguely understand through your blog and your photos. May God bless you and keep you safe.
