Sending Kids To Camp, One Kid at a Time
Last year our church held its first kids camp. It was a big step for them and it was quite the success. This year they have taken another step of faith this year and have invited kids from the village churches around us. This means that they are doubling the number of kids that will be coming. However it also means that they will be more than doubling the cost of camp, because transportation from the village to the camp is difficult. The kids from the church each pay $5 dollars to come to this 5 day camp and they are asking the village kids to pay $1 (yes even that difficult for them to do). This means that they are upping the cost and decreasing what half of the kids are contributing. The church is coming alongside the camp and contributing what they can, but we are still coming up short. They talked about the possibility of telling the village kids they couldn’t come, but decided first to pray! As we were praying I was convicted that I hadn’t shared this with anyone and that God was asking me to be willing. So here I go…
$25 pays completely for one village kid to make it to camp. The camp is at the end of this month from July 31st – August 4th. The kids have never experienced anything like this before and you can imagine how eager they are to go. If you would like to be a part, please send me a note to let me know.
Our Participation
This is the first time that I get to participate in the camp. I have been helping with the planning team and, although it is a stretch for me, I will also be leading one group of kids and a few workshops. It is encouraging to see my progress in language, but also difficult as it is pushing me to the limits of my language ability. Ethan will also get to participate in the camp this year with me. I can’t wait to tell you all about our experience. It will be nothing like any other camp I have been too, because it is completely planned and put together by the members of our church. This means it is very cultural in how it is run, and although we are getting more and more used to the culture here, it will still be a big step for us both.
Pictures From Last Year
Last year we had 45 kids from our town there. Although we didn’t participate last year in the camp, Joel did go for one day to take some pictures and see what was happening there.

Can’t wait so share with you what God is going to do this year!
We’ll sponsor three kids Andi. Camp is pretty dear to our hearts, and so are kids!
Thanks for letting us be a part of this. I’ll get a check in the mail tomorrow.
I’ll do 2.
Joel and Andi-
Just a note to let you know that our church is in the middle of VBS and our Friday night (parents’ program) offering will be for Kids Camp. I’ll let you know by Saturday (13th) the exact number of kids we will sponsor but we do know it will be at least 12. We will be sending a check to NTM. Thanks for letting us be a part of this!
Hi Andi and Joel,
I have sent the check to NTM with the letter you suggested telling them that I will sponsor 4 Village Children to go to camp. Hope it all goes very well. I know how much my kids always liked camp. I know these kids will too.

Hi Andi, As Carolyn asked…. how do we designate these funds. I will sponsor four kids. Let me know how to do it.
Have a great camp.
How do we give for the kids camp? Do we contact NTM for a one time gift? Can we designate it for the camp?
