Is Partnership Developing?

August 3, 2020 by Joel Potter

Right before this transition begins in earnest (see the previous post if you’re not sure what transition we’re talking about), the “Home Assignment” we’ve had for the last six months is coming to a close. Remember, we had been taking that time away from the regular ministry responsibilities to work on fund-raising for our monthly ministry and living expenses. Oh, and also, we have all been living under the cloud of a global pandemic. Of course, I know you haven’t forgotten that! It is easy, however, to forget, in the foggy and unclear atmosphere that it has created, that…

And so He’s reminded us many times, over the past months, as He has moved individuals to join our support team. As a result of His work, we’ve seen an increase of almost $600 in NEW, MONTHLY support. We had set a goal of reaching $2020 in new monthly support this year and while we’re not even halfway there, we’re confident that God knows our needs and will provide in His way and in His time. If you want to be a part of this will help you get started.

We still intend to see this campaign through to the end of the year, hoping to reach that amount, even though the specific time for doing that has come to a close. And we ask that you keep on praying for God to add to our support team. We need that encouragement and investment to keep going in this work!

After two decades of living together in a life bui After two decades of living together in a life built on something we believe will last, I’m grateful for who you are to me, today, Bethany.

I could post pictures of our wedding day or talk about how much simpler things were then, but what I’m grateful for is what’s right now. We’ve been blessed to be built up into something that has permanence even while we increasingly see agonizing splits between relationships around us or near us.

Some days I wish for us in our early days, living that simple life fueled by youth and passion, but we were meant for more than just twenty years of that.

So, on our 20th anniversary, my choice of a moment to remember is one of my favorite pictures of us, taken while we were in Thailand, so tired from working and with stress on many fronts whispering in our ears. This is life right now and yet in the middle of it, our awesome God who brings beauty in the middle of ashes, brings you and me the chance to see beauty in each other every day.

I love you.
