About

Since 1997 our family has been a part of reaching unreached people groups full-time. Convinced of God’s love for all ethnic groups, as beings made in His image, we are working to see the gospel revealed to everyone, especially to the world’s unreached people groups. We work with Ethnos360, mission organization that works to see a thriving church for every people. We help train believers around the world to join this work of reaching unreached peoples in their own or nearby countries.

What’s our part in this work? You’re not in a remote location somewhere, so what are you guys doing?

  • We’re a part of helping to train believers around the world who want to join in this work of reaching unreached peoples in their own or nearby countries.
  • We have joined a team of other missionaries from around Ethnos360 and it’s Global Partners to help create the platform to pass on the experience and knowledge that God has given to us, to a new generation of church-planters and disciplers. We want to be good stewards of this knowledge.
  • In this day and age where access to many countries if more and more restricted, we can’t put brick and mortar training programs where they’re needed. But we can get there via online education. And this is the time when the whole world is much more fluent when it comes to learning online.
  • This is a ministry that Joel and Bethany are jointly contributing to.  That means that we are both using our skills and abilities to uniquely contribute to this. Our family has some unique circumstances and the ability for Bethany and me to work together from our home meets these needs in a flexible way.

The Potters…

are missionaries helping every people group around the world have the chance to understand the gospel and have access to a thriving church. We are serving with the International Ministries Office as it assists Ethnos360 and its Global Partners.

We just posted a big Year in Review post on our bl We just posted a big Year in Review post on our blog and to the email list. As you know, a whole lot of life happened in 2022 and it's likely that 2023 will be no different. We'd love to fill you in.

Take a look at it on the blog OR you can listen to it. Listening is a super-simple way to keep up with us when you can't read. Like while you're taking the kids to school or walking your pup.

You can find links to LISTEN or READ at my profile site.

To “tend a loved one in decline” - part 2 The To “tend a loved one in decline” - part 2

The beautiful thing is how the light breaks through the fog. If the responsibility, the challenges, the emotional heaviness is the fog, the grace of the gracious high-priest, Jesus, is that light that for now makes the fog glow with incredible beauty and will one day burn off the fog.

And for now, the wise words of Douglas McKelvey are a comfort:

“Love is wearying in this way, and even we who deeply love the ones we serve, need grace upon grace upon grace lest we despair. For in our giving, we are ever drained and so often depleted. We long for what we are too long without: respite and refreshment. So be our rest, O Christ, when there is no other rest to find.”
