Dear Praying Friends,
This past week was one of varied activities.
First of all, we had visitors. We were very glad to have our pilot’s family for a visit. Brian and Katherine serve with NTM Aviation and we really appreciate all that they do to support our ministry here. We really wouldn’t be able to live here without the support that the flight program gives. They were joined by their three kids and Katherine’s sister and brother-in-law who were visiting the Philippines.
And then there were two days of dealing with “to do” list items that could not be put off any longer. One of the jobs was dealing with parts of the clinic walls that had been destroyed by wood boring insects. I was very satisfied with the way the treated beams looked and considered taking a picture for you to see but decided that a picture of insects would be more interesting than a picture of insect damage. A giant blue wasp kept buzzing by me as I worked and later it killed a huge spider and I got a picture of it dragging its prey across our front step.
Aside from entertaining visitors and dodging wasps, getting back into translation was my focus. My translation consultant combed through the back translation of my translation of Acts and sent back dozens and dozens of questions and suggestions. This is a very important step and very helpful, but it is also very tedious. Please pray that I will have wisdom and patience to deal with each issue thoroughly and accurately. Last week I answered seven chapters worth of consultant remarks; only 21 chapters to go.
This week our partners, Vicky and the Maynard family, leave for a break in town. Vicky has been suffering from tooth pain and needs to have some dental work done. She would appreciate your prayers that that would go well and she would be able to get rid of the infection that is at the root of the problem. Please pray our partners will be refreshed by their time out at town.
Our son, Thomas, is making plans to move to Oregon this spring. We are very thankful that his plans are coming together and some friends have offered him a place to stay.
Thank you for your prayers! God bless, Jonathan
