Dear Praying Friends,
This past week has been a bit of an obstacle course race and we were thankful to get to the end of the week and find that many things were accomplished. The set of helpers that were working on the latest draft of Acts finished all 28 chapters and the group in the picture above did a recording draft of 16 chapters of Acts. Heidi was able to get additional chapters of Exodus and a Bible lesson formatted for the MP3 players. Sunday she loaded the new files on 19 players and got the players redistributed.
Between the various projects we were working on we attended the school 6th grade graduation and closing program.
We also participated in a bridal pay off ceremony (Akit) for some of our friends here. The bride is from the village downstream from us and the fun starts with the arrival of the bride’s family carrying baskets of sweet sticky rice on their heads. I asked people yell for me when they were arriving because I wanted to take pictures. The first time they called was just a practice run. They yelled and I grabbed my camera and tore across the village. Lots of folks joined me on the river bank to gaze at a couple of slightly embarrassed ladies who were just carrying some baskets of bananas home and weren’t looking to be the center of attention. An hour later we tried again with good results.
Last week Vicky made it back to the village and is feeling much better. The Maynard family also made it back from their break out in town and are ready to dive into language study again.
The Akit was Saturday and many of our friends from downstream stayed for service on Sunday. I took this group picture after the meeting.
Heidi and I our arrived out in town yesterday and are on our way to Manila this afternoon. Field leadership team meetings start tomorrow and run for the rest of the week.
