Today we are experiencing one of our first tropical storms of the season and
the rain is bucketing down. The parking lot hasn’t been filled with
umbrellas for quite a while.
Even though it was raining we had good attendance at our Sunday service. I
was humbled by the fact that some of the ladies who had gone to town for
supplies this weekend hit the trail at 3 AM walking through the darkness and
rain hoping to arrive in time for church, which they did. That kind of
desire for God’s Word is a great encouragement to me.
One of the out of the ordinary things that happened this past week was a
major upgrade to the village water system. The village leader asked me to
join the work party. We needed to run a cable and pipe from one side of the
river to the other and have it at least 15 feet in the air at the lowest
point. We ran into a few difficulties but were able to get the system back
up and running by the end of the day.
Prayer Requests:
. Thank the Lord that we have a better supply of water than we had before
and that no one was hurt working on the water project.
. Please pray that I will be able to make good progress on the translation
of Old Testament portions in the next few weeks. These are needed for some
lessons we will be teaching soon, but I am anxious to get back to working in
the New Testament.
. Pray that the translation will be clear and accurate.
. Pray that Heidi’s ladies’ Bible Studies will be a great encouragement to
the ladies who participate.
Thank you for your prayers!
God bless,
Jonathan & Heidi
