Update for the First Week of October 2016
Every Sunday has a routine; things that normally happen. But every Sunday also has an element of surprise: a dog fight during singing or a child falling off of a bench or some other random event to keep us wondering what will happen next. Yesterday was not different in that it was different. For example, there was pre-service entertainment. The sun was beating down on the benches so David put up a tarp to give some shade and then he let the kids write on it with markers; which they really enjoyed.
Then, ten minutes before the service started, the helicopter arrived bringing pilot, Zach, along with Sue Me from Faith Academy in Manila, and Tim and Peggy Langan from Westwood Baptist in Olympia. They had come in order to attend service and they were right on time.
We enjoyed having them for the service and they toured the village and we had lunch together at the Maynard’s house. They left and within 30 minutes the clouds had covered the ridges and rain was bucketing down. They hadn’t departed any too soon. Sue Me is staying on for a couple more days.
Thank you for your prayers. Lesson writing went well last week and I hope to finish off the Old Testament lessons this week and start reviewing the Scripture portions used in them by the end of the week.
Heidi has been busy with the end of the month book keeping and inventory for the clinic and this week she hopes to finish drafting the final two stories for the children’s Bible story book she has been translating this year.
