Plans often change, don’t they? For example, maybe you were planning on having a bologna sandwich with a pickle on it for dinner or maybe you were planning on having a nice meal of sardines and rice. Whatever the case your plans might change suddenly.
Our plans changed suddenly last week and instead of eating at home we found ourselves in a queue waiting for dinner. This was not a complete surprise because we had been hearing rumors that our presence would be requested to give a Bible study to help celebrate a new house that was built upstream.
We were in the queue for a while as the cooks doted on the seasoning and presentation of our meal.
It was worth the wait; and much tastier than bologna or sardines or even bologna and sardines.
We enjoyed having a chance to teach God’s word and visit with our Isnag friends.
Speaking of plans, Heidi and I have some plans that we would like to share with you. First of all, we have been asked to attend a NTM leadership conference in Thailand in November. We then plan to come back to the village for a couple of weeks of Bible teaching and translation before leaving for the USA. If the Lord wills, we will be in the USA from mid-December until mid-January. We are excited about meeting our daughter-in-law, Emily, and seeing the rest of our children. If all goes well, we will all be in one place at the same time about two days after we arrive. This hasn’t happened for several years and we are looking forward to the occasion and many other times of fellowship with family and friends. This time at home will be rather short but, Lord willing, we will take a longer furlough in 2018.
Thanks for your prayers!
God bless,
Jonathan and Heidi
