After a few difficult months in town and surgery to repair two broken bones, Aileen has recovered enough to be able to be back in the village. She flew in on the day Heidi and I began our journey to Thailand to attend meetings.
Our pilot did a very good job of getting us out to town. As you can see from the picture, the clouds were very low and obscuring the mountain passes most of the time. Every time we circled around looking for a place to land because we could not move forward, a gap would appear, and we were able to move to the next valley and eventually all the way to the flight center. The following day we had to take the 14+ hour bus ride to Manila because the airport was closed due to low clouds.
The following day we traveled to Thailand without incident. Ronald met us at the airport and asked me to greet you. We had good meetings. We enjoyed the fellowship and the encouragement to press on to greater excellence in the many areas of missionary work.
We are back in the Philippines and want to thank you for praying for Aileen and our trip to Thailand. Another reason to praise the Lord, is that we were able to get the Back-to-English draft of Ephesians finished and to the consultant while we were on our trip.
We are now at our flight center and have a few days to finish reviewing the comments from the translation consultants for the books of Romans and Ephesians.
You could also pray for David and Vanessa Maynard, our partners. They are wrapping up their furlough and will be joining us in the village near the end of February. Making the transition is a lot of work, so I’m sure they would appreciate your prayers.
God bless, Jonathan & Heidi
