Equipping for the Ministry

April 2, 2011 by Jonathan and Lisa Parker

I am glad I didn’t come to Florida so spend a week of “Spring Break” like others on my flight from Missouri. I have seen a lot of rain and some high winds that uprooted quite a few trees around here. It is a bit scary driving through intersections where traffic lights are not functioning.  A couple of times I was not sure my vehicle would make it through some of the big “puddles” on the road.  All I could do was thank the Lord that it wasn’t SNOW!

Lots of Information in a short amount of time!
Lots of Information in a short amount of time!

The past four days here at the home office have been very profitable.  I am thankful for my co-worker John Oliver who has very patiently and effectively walked me through the main aspects of the program I will be using in my new ministry in Southeast Africa.  At some points I was definitely on information overload but I believe I was able to glean enough to give me a good head star t when I get over there.  I am appreciative that John took time out of his busy schedule and life to invest in the work in Mozambique.  Not only did he sacrifice time but I know his heart and mind is with his wife, Paula as she is battling breast cancer.  What a challenge to see their faith in the Lord and see joy in their lives in the midst of trial.  Please take some time to pray for John, Paula and their three children Nick, Joy and Hannah.

Time really has gone by!

I am thankful as well for Joel and Melanie opening their home for me to stay.  It has been quite a while since we have been together which is very apparent by the change in the nieces and nephew.  Getting to spend the evening with the a bunch of MK’s last night at their weekly youth group was pretty cool as well. And yes, I do get to enjoy a couple of sunny days before heading back to Missouri on Monday!
