Welcome to my husband’s world. A world of expected and unexpected. Days of mundane tasks to unusual ones.
On a "normal" day, Josh leaves for work at 7:00 a.m. He has just finished up maintanance & flight ground school and will begin tomorrow on his maintanance projects. This will included rebuilding a control surface on an airplane, doing a 500-hour inspection on a magneto (for all you ladies: what makes the spark in an engine), and various other projects.
And then there are the not so normal days. Josh and the other guys got to go to a large pool to do some water rescue training. This was to get some experience with life rafts and life vests that they would use in the event that they ever had to force land their plane in the water.
They also got to unload a Cessna 185 out of a crate shipped from the Philippines. It was interesting to see the plane in pieces. The guys were all enjoying themselves as they pulled out each part!
Josh will continue doing maintanance projects through December and then will be doing the flying part of his training the following few months. That’s how it is supposed to go anyway, but that really depends on how many "unusual" days come up.
