A Life Changing Retreat (September Update)

December 4, 2019 by Josh and Bethany Weeks

A life changing retreat in Colorado

In our last update we informed you we’d be leaving on a week-long marriage retreat in Colorado at the end of September. This retreat is designed to help pastors and missionaries learn to balance the demands of life, family and ministry while rekindling passion for Christ and His church.
It was all that… and SO much more!

During our stay we lived in a cute little cottage nestled in the mountain forest where the aspen trees were rich in color! Everywhere we looked was a spectacular view of God’s art and beauty.
Josh and I daily met with a counselor and his wife who really took the time to look deeply into our lives and hear our struggles and pain along with our joy and love for ministry. They were amazing and their care and advise were much appreciated. With them, we were able to process many trials, losses and pain, and together we brought that all to the Lord at His feet.
At the retreat center there was a prayer-walk through the woods that Josh and I did together one day. It was a beautiful start to our week just recognizing God is completely available to us all the time and caring for our every need and concern.
A hightlight of our week was our sabbath. This day, Josh and I hiked up a mountain with a list full of our many hurts and losses. It was a time for us individually to give those to the Lord and leave them behind. In the evening, we had a time of worship and communion really recognizing the gospel as the means to all joy and hope in life.
This was a week to rest and reflect on all that the Lord has done for us through His Son!

Here’s how we’re leaving the retreat

-Wow… we’re leaving with a renewed love for the gospel Can you leave anywhere better than that??
-With a strengthened trust in God’s direction and plans for our lives and ministry
-A renewed thankfulness for the blessing that is marriage. We were reminded to appreciate each other’s different strengths and see how the Lord intends to use this relationship for His glory!

Thank you so much for your continued prayers for our marriage, family and team. We are so grateful for God’s good care over our family and drawing us ever closer to Himself. What a privilege to serve such a gracious and patient Father!
