Our time of discipleship out in the tribe last week was a huge success. Thank you for praying.
Since we were in a dinky town consisting of mostly Guahibos and met in an open unfinished church, we were shocked when the first day we had 80 people! But soon it went down to 60 which was more manageable for what we wanted to accomplish.
The people were intrigued by the study on the seven churches in Revelation and how it applied to them. One man said, “Mark, this study pricks my heart.”
They also enjoyed singing newly translated hymns done by one of our co-translators, Arcesio. Speaking of Arcesio, it really impressed me how well he taught on the church he was given by Mark to teach. Also John George did a really good job along with Mark.
Our partner, Alberto and a couple other Indians taught on Honor and Shame so they had a lot of good MEAT of the word during this time. Pray they will diligently share this teaching with their people.
We met four sessions with the ladies and co-translator, Luis’s wife, Selmira and I taught amidst kids running in and out and crawling and breast feeding. This bothers us “whites” way more than it does them as it is just part of their normal life. The ladies enjoyed these times and shared comments and testimonies so it was good. We ended Saturday morning with a fun time of musical chairs, refreshments and gifts after a review.
Mark stayed all this week to do comprehension checks with several Guahibos on the revised portions of their NT. He will return home on Monday.
Speaking of “home.” It sure was good to get back to “civilization” and God’s continual AC here in the Andes mountains compared to the heat and sweat out there on the lowlands! Also showering with HOT water instead of cold is quite a treat as well as washing clothes in an automatic verses via hand. All these things we may take for granted are not enjoyed by a good part of the world.
Thank you for your prayers and as you celebrate the Good Ole USA this week end, remember to thank God for the things we take for granted.
Rejoicing in God’s Good Work,
Joyce Cain for Mark, Alberto and Nancy Gonzalez and the Indian missionary team
