I would like to express our heartfelt gratitude for our NTM pilots who were willing to risk their lives for us in the years we worked with possible threats of kidnapping from the enemies of the Gospel here in Colombia. We knew that all it would take was a radio call to ask for our plane to go out to the village we lived in on the prairies of Colombia working with the Guahibo people to get us.
The Lord was raising up believers among the Guahibos and Satan did not like it. So from like 1985 to 1994 during our danger years, our plane was just a call away to take us to town and safety. It was wonderful to have them fly in our mail, fresh vegetables, fruit and meats and supplies whenever we asked them to.
Yes, we were a ways out from town and at mid-day it could get up to 100 degrees out there on our airstrip in the tribe, but there were no complaints but rather smiles. 1994 was the last flight they made for us when we had to evacuate the village and have been living in the big cities since doing translation. But never will we forget the sacrifices done willingly by our pilots those many years when we lived in enemy territory.
God has raised His church among the Guahibo tribe just as He promised in his Word: “I will build my church and the gates of Hell (nor our enemies) will not prevail against it!”
Guess what? Our precious pilots who risked their lives over those years for us and the work are a part of this church that God continues to build on the prairies of Colombia!! Some of our Guahibo children and grandchildren in the faith are missionaries working where we can’t be anymore!!!
