I love the amazing adventure that walking with God is. I can’t believe that I am finally here, training for cross-cultural missions. Yet, I am not surprised because God is so faithful. I look at the expectations in place for this phase of training and think, I cannot do this, but I know that Philippians 4:13 tells me, “I can do everything through Christ, who gives me strength.” I am overwhelmed with the thought of the daunting task that this whole church planting in another country is, yet I am so burdened for it and know that there is nothing else I could do.
In a letter asking for missionaries, the Amto people wrote, “If you people are true Christians, you will hear our cry and come. We are very close to dying…we die one right after the other. So, I ask you, ‘Why do you… not hear our cry?…Why have you never shown your face?'”
I heard the other day that 55,000 people die daily without hearing the Gospel.
I have no doubt that this journey is going to be a difficult one. There will be dying to self, sacrifice, unpleasantness, hardships and frustrations. It is something that I cannot do by myself, in my own strength. It is one that I need to depend on Jesus for strength for every moment of every day. At the same time, it will be the most awesome adventure and the greatest privilege. I am excited to play whatever role God has for me on this great adventure and journey that is missions.
Thanks for partnering with me.
