A full month:
Greetings! Our plates are full! It’s been a full month with translation work, Global Equip, and the Sharpening Your Interpersonal Skills online workshop (“Balance and Long-Term Effectiveness”).
Online workshop:
The online workshop is in its final week, with eight participants—four overseas and four in the U.S., which makes for some creative meeting times. The learning has been excellent.

Translation:
Bible translation continues. It isn’t a straightforward task. After researching the context to understand the original meaning, I draft the text, search our translation database to see if we can reuse words and phrases, and then review it with our translation assistant when we return to the village.
Ron and his assistants review it, followed by a final comprehension check that we do as a team in the village.
I am currently reworking Psalms and am on Psalm 107 – a sample of verse 1 is with this paragraph. Lord willing, when we return next year, our team will finish Job, Joel, and Amos, and continue through Psalms. Please pray for wisdom as we set travel dates that align with our coworkers. They are not sure what month they will return, but they do hope to avoid winter in Australia.

Global Equipping:
The above picture shows the students we advise. One of the above dropped out, but ten remain (nine in the Philippines and one in Laos) and are doing well. They range in age from their 20s to 60s. We track their work, grade essays, and lately have been evaluating their practice teaching. They start a two-week break this week, during which we’ll attend a retreat in Tennessee for a time of encouragement and planning with some fun thrown in.
Travel:
After the retreat, we’ll travel to South Carolina, where we will spend over a week visiting friends and supporters. If you are there and want to see us, please contact us. From there, we head to Florida for a reunion on November 1 at our sending church’s 70th anniversary and visits with supporters. On our return home, we will stop in Alabama for a follow-up on my cataract surgery.
Thank you:
We are so encouraged by each of you who pray and give to this ministry. Thank you again for your partnership with us.
Secure in Christ’s love alone,
Lance & Laura
