We thought we’d share with you some of the good things that are going on in the village while we have been working on Old Testament translation. 2 Timothy 2:2 “…the things that you have heard from me among many witnesses, commit these to faithful men who will be able to teach others also.“
The Higaunon believers have some things they want to share with you. "Unripe Ones - Part one" is what they believed before they came to Christ - what those outside of Christ STILL believe. As you read these cultural insights, please pray that many more Higaunon will come to a saving knowledge of Christ.
Part 2 of what the Higaunon wish to share with you sheds some more light on their culture outside of Christ. Those who say, "Leave them alone, they're happy the way they are" have not lived amongst them. If they had, they would realize that they were not a very happy people.
Just when you thought it couldn't get any worse for the Higaunon, their account of life outside of Christ saddens us even more. Part 3 is about sickness and taboos regarding child birth. Were they happy outside of Christ? What do you think?
In part 4 of "From Fear to Faith" Grandma shares about when the missionaries first lived among them. How fearful they were!! A lot has changed down through the years. A lot to praise the Lord for!
In this next part we begin to see a bit of hope as the tribal people respond to the Truth. Mahn-peel-yoo-nun shares about when they first heard teaching from God's Word. It had such an impact on their lives that they KNEW it must be true.
Naha tells of their happiness when they understood the precious message of Christ and wonders at the depth of the darkness they lived in before they knew the truth.
They had heard the gospel and found out that it took 2000 years before the message arrived in their valley. How long would they wait before they took the message to their fellow Higaunon?
