It was nice to have a break from classes with the Field Fair last week. It was nice to have a break from homework, too. But it was also good to get back into our routine.
In class, we have been dealing entirely with individual sounds and parts of words up until this week. That’s what we’ve done for the last 8 weeks or so. But this week, we finally started dealing with larger units of language, like phrases and clauses. In a way, it’s a little more challenging, because now that we’re dealing with more than one word at a time, the things being communicated can be more complicated. This weekend, we are working on a problem that focuses heavily on transitivity. If that doesn’t mean anything to you, that’s ok.
One other change that happened this week was the weather. We had been having such nice weather, we almost thought it was summer. But it was dry. This week, though, it rained off and on every day. The lake has come up quite a bit (it was really low) and leaves are appearing on trees. And after looking at the bare trees all winter, I always love to see the greenery again.
Scout finally got her glasses this week, and almost immediately, we had a bit of a scare. She took them off the day after we got them, and then we couldn’t find them for a day after that. We were afraid she had dropped them when Alisha took the kids out for a walk that day, and that they might have been broken. We looked all over the house and retraced their steps outside before finally finding them stuck between Elroy’s bed and the wall. That was a relief.
Thank you for your continued prayer on our behalf. As I have been saying in our updates, we are in the middle of picking a country to serve in. We realize that God uses missionaries all over the world, but we also know that we will be spending a good part of our lives in whatever country we pick. And we want you to be in the loop as we consider this.
With that said, we are considering one country in particular right now: Asia-Pacific. It is a country with a lot of islands and a lot of isolated people groups who have not had access to God’s Word. A lot of missionaries are going there lately, but this area may not always be open to the missionaries. So we are looking into that. Please keep praying for us concerning that.
Praise:
-Scout got her new glasses
-Rain to make things grow
-Continued learning in class
Prayer:
-That Scout’s new glasses will correct her eye problem (and we won’t lose them)
-The guys at the Lighthouse who are being taught God’s Word and beginning to understand some basic things
-Picking a country
Thanks!
