We got a break from school for Easter this week, so we’ve had the last few days off. Each day felt like Saturday, so by the time Saturday actually came, I didn’t realize that’s what day it was. So howdy from this rested yet disoriented missionary family.
As far as homework goes, I am still working on the same problem I was last week. It is due Tuesday. Thursday was the first of our days off for the break, so I’ve had plenty of time to work on it, but that doesn’t make it easy. Even though we’re only working with a tiny sample (76 sentences) of data compared to the whole language, you can still get lost in it. It’s always a relief to be finished with a big problem like this. While it is difficult and at times a little overwhelming, I am still enjoying the class.
Last Sunday after church, we went with some friends to some outlets stores in the closest sizable town. We did a lot of walking and it was rather hot, but it was nice to get off campus. I hadn’t been more than 30 minutes away from school since we got here. The kids were pretty excited when we got ice cream after we finished shopping.
This week has been pretty exciting for the kids. Someone gave us a turtle they found on the highway, so they have had a blast playing with him. Elroy named him Ivan. We did a little research on different kinds of turtles here, and were able to determine that he is about 4 or 5 years old. Elroy is happy that Ivan is the same age as him. Alisha also found some tadpoles for the kids, and they were ecstatic to learn that they will soon sprout legs. Scout’s glasses broke this week, but it was just the frame, which is covered by warranty. We should get them back early next week.
