As of last week, we’ve been here six months. With summer, some things are changing, although it’s been summer since we got here. First, wet summer, now dry summer. Yesterday was the kids last day of school. Scout graduated from Kindergarten and Elroy finished 1st grade. I always thought summer break was a good thing, but we are faced with a real challenge in keeping the kids busy while we try to continue our language sessions.
We continue to progress in language, although it seems mainly what we are learning is how little we know. Right now, we are studying sentence structure, how verbs are put together and, as always, more vocab. This week, we will also be hosting the monthly local men’s meeting at our house. We will have to completely clear the furniture out of two rooms of our house, because that allows for more seating room (we sit on the ground). We have ordered (with the help of a neighbor lady) 30 boxes of snack foods, and will be expected to provide enough hot tea for everyone. It’s one of those things I probably wouldn’t choose to have at our house, but since I didn’t have a choice, we get to experience it anyway.
Praise:
-The kids finishing out the school year
-The chance to experience the culture in different ways
Prayer:
-Having enough time to study the language and for it to stick
-Choosing a region to serve in
Thanks for your prayers!
